All About Caren!

Caren Richards Nutritionist

I love being a nutritionist and would talk about food all day if I could!

The best part of my job is seeing how my clients can quickly start to feel more energised and in control of their health by just making a few changes to their diet

The most important thing to me is that the nutrition advice I offer is simple to understand and implement. Although nutritional science can sometimes be complicated (made worse by the wealth of conflicting information in the media!) I believe that healthy eating should be easy and that is what I would like to share with you.

I have now been practising as a Registered Nutritionist for over 12 years and it is rewarding to see how much my knowledge has been able to help not only me but also my clients, friends and family.

I have had numerous highs and lows with my own health but have found that consistently eating nourishing food can make a huge difference to how I feel.

A few years ago I suffered with peri menopausal symptoms and to be honest it was a bit of a shock! I couldn’t understand why I was gaining weight, feeling low and had no energy. I took a step back had some tests done and realised that it was my hormones! As soon as I made changes to my diet and lifestyle things started to improve.

It was a good reminder to me that our nutritional needs alter as we age – fluctuating hormones, loss of muscle mass and less activity can make a difference to energy, digestion and our waistline! What we ate (and drank!) our 20s and 30s is not necessarily the right fit in our 40s and 50s - our bodies change and the food we eat needs to too!

If you would like to chat about whether nutrition can help with your health concerns please get in touch – I offer a free 15-minute consultation or we can chat by email if you would prefer.

MY DEGREE INVOLVED SIX YEARS OF STUDY INTO NUTRITION MEDICINE.

Nutrition Medicine is a science-based field of health care.

The qualification focused on a functional medicine approach to nutrition and the therapy that I practice addresses the importance of individual variations in metabolic function that derive from genetic and environmental differences. I have extensive experience and training in clinical practice and deal with the primary prevention and underlying causes of symptoms. Only nutritional therapists and some dietitians are trained in clinical practice to give one-on-one personal health advice.

I am consistently improving my education by attending training programmes, seminars and conferences to keep up to date with the latest trends and research on health and well-being.
