Nutrition Advice For Easing Out Of Lockdown

As we slowly ease out of lockdown I can feel the old busyness starting to creep back into my daily routine.

I’m sure that, like me, you have formed lots of good habits over the past months like walking outside every day, online exercise classes, going to bed early, trying new recipes and sitting down to eat meals as a family.

However - many of us have found that our usual eating patterns have been disrupted and perhaps there has been more cake baking, alcohol drinking, snacking and larger portion sizes?

As we fall into a ‘new normal’ this is a good time to take stock of what we are eating and focus on adding in some nourishing foods.

Hang on to the good habits and focus on what you can put in to your diet rather than what you need to cut out, perhaps add in more vegetables to lunch or dinner, have some berries for breakfast or drink more water through the day.

Look for swaps like brown rice instead of white, an apple with nut butter rather than a biscuit and sparkling water and ice rather than gin and tonic.

Increase the variety of healthy foods that you are eating – aim for 30 different fruits and vegetables per week.

Whatever your new routine is having nutrition plan in place can help to keep eating habits on track despite everything else that is going on.
