HOW NUTRITIONAL THERAPY CAN HELP

STRESS

Although we often think of stress as a bad thing, stress of various forms is actually required to maintain our equilibrium or homeostasis. Exercise, for example, is a form of stress, as is intensive mental effort, but most people recognise that engaging in exercise and mental tasks is better for us than vegetating in front of a television.

The tissues that maintain our ability to manage stress successfully are very dependent on nutrition, and the availability of nutrient rich foods to ensure an optimal response and maintenance of homeostasis.

There are many other factors also involved, but a healthy diet and lifestyle, along with suitable targeted support can make a real difference to your energy and stress management.

ENERGY AND VITALITY
Feeling tired or low in energy is a common complaint, especially in the winter months, and those handy little pick me ups, coffee, tea and sugary treats, might actually be making things worse!
Physical activity, athletic performance and recovery from exercise are known to be enhanced by optimal nutrition, but we are not all athletes, just people trying to obtain the required output of energy in the face of ever increasing demands on our time and resources. The result is often fatigue; that state following a period of mental or bodily activity, characterised by a diminished capacity for work which may be accompanied by a feeling of weariness, sleepiness, or irritability.
The appropriate selection of foods and fluids, the timing of their intake, and supplement choices are essential for optimal health and exercise performance. I can guide you through dietary changes, supplemental additions and lifestyle adaptation that will help you achieve the balance of energy output, recovery, rest and relaxation that is best suited to your individual need.

DIGESTIVE HEALTH

The symptoms of improper digestion can include :-

bloating, pain, diarrhoea, constipation, food intolerances and gastroesophageal reflux

A properly functioning digestive system is essential for optimal health, even the most nutrient dense foods are worthless if there is inadequate digestion as the absorption of nutrients will be compromised. Gut microbiota aid food digestion and absorption, and inhibit the development of pathogenic bacteria. Research shows that alterations in these ratios may lead to a change in gastrointestinal function and health.

I work on a one to one basis with my clients to support their gastrointestinal health and function through the personalised use of foods, food constituents and biological agents (probiotics).
