Get Ready For Summer

Spring has finally sprung and thoughts are now drifting to a few weeks holiday relaxing in the sunshine.

It probably seems like a long way off but now is a great time to think about getting your body beach ready! Rather than leaving it until two weeks before you leave and crash dieting why not start making some small healthy changes now?

In the short term we all know that crash diets work but long term they can disrupt the body’s metabolism which means that the next time you try to lose weight it is a little bit more difficult and you might put on more than you lost as soon as the ‘diet’ stops.

So that is why starting to get ready for the beach now is a good idea, you don’t necessarily have to make a huge diet overhaul, just try making one or two tiny changes this week and stick to them. For example, swap you morning biscuit for fruit and a few nuts, stop adding sugar to you tea or take the stairs rather than the lift. Make the adjustment and persevere until it becomes a habit and then move on to the next change. These small modifications to your lifestyle will add up to a big difference when you get to July.

You don’t need to be on a permanent diet you just need a healthy eating plan that you can follow every day. This means that if you have a big night out or a weekend away you can relax and enjoy a few extra foods and then go back to your usual routine. Your nutritious eating then becomes a habit that you stick to leading to a new and healthier you!
