A Sneaky Insight into the
World of Nutrition

Cravings

Hands up if you ate a few more sweet treats than usual over the Christmas period!

And are you finding yourself still looking for sugary foods even though the festivities are over?

A scientific review published in December shows that the more we include these types of foods in our diet the more we crave them. The authors suggest that it is a conditioned response – but the good news is that it can be unlearned.

One way to reduce the longing for a certain food is to eat it less frequently, so it is better to remove something from your diet than to try to eat smaller helpings of it.

Try swapping your chocolates and sweets for fruit and nuts, it might take a few days but the cravings will lessen once the new habit forms and you will be healthier in the long run.
